Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Sabbath School (the “app”) handles your personal data. The data controller is Harold Buenaventura (“the controller”, “we”). Contact: h_buenaventura@outlook.com.
The app is used inside congregations (Sabbath School classes). Accounts are created by an instructor or an administrator through an invitation.
1. What data we process
- Account: first and last name, email address, user ID, system role (student, instructor or administrator), assigned class and approval status.
- Profile: phone number and country code, document number, gender, marital status, residence, nationality, occupation, birth date, baptism date and class role.
- Attendance: date, class and your answers to the weekly form.
- Bible studies: name and phone number of the people you study with, the study status and its dates.
- Consent: the version of the text you accepted and the date you accepted it.
- Minimal technical data: our providers may log data such as the IP address and access time for security and to keep the service running. The app uses no advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
2. Sensitive data
Given the nature of the app, some of the data (belonging to a congregation, attending Sabbath School and the baptism date) can reveal religious beliefs, which Argentine law treats as sensitive data. We use it only to run the app within your congregation and never for any other purpose. When you complete your profile we ask you to expressly accept this policy.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by requesting the deletion of your account (see “Delete your account”).
3. How we use your data
- Create and manage your account and control access according to your role.
- Record attendance and produce statistics for your class and congregation.
- Let instructors and administrators manage classes, members and Bible studies.
- Send you invitation and password-recovery emails.
- Uniquely identify a member and avoid duplicate records (document number).
- Keep the service secure and fix errors.
4. Who can see your data inside the app
- Other students cannot see your personal data.
- Your class instructor sees the profile data and attendance of the members of their class.
- People with a delegated permission from the instructor (for example, a secretary) see what that permission allows: inviting, approving, marking attendance or viewing reports for their class.
- Administrators see the data of all classes.
5. Other people's data (Bible studies)
If you record the name and phone number of someone you study the Bible with, that person does not have an account in the app. Only enter their data if they know and agree. You, your class instructor and the administrators can see it, and it is used only to follow up on the study. If you are one of those people and want your data deleted, write to h_buenaventura@outlook.com and we will remove it.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with providers that make the service possible:
- Google Firebase: authentication and database.
- Cloudflare: hosting of the invitation and password-recovery services, and of these pages.
- Resend: delivery of invitation and password-recovery emails (it receives your name and email).
- Apple and Google: distribution of the app in their stores.
- WhatsApp: the app may open a WhatsApp link when you tap it; we do not send data to WhatsApp on our own.
We may also disclose data if a competent authority requires it by law.
7. International transfers
The app's database is hosted in the United States (Google Cloud multi-region “nam5”), and Cloudflare and Resend operate globally. The basis for that transfer is your express consent, which you give by accepting this policy.
8. How long we keep data
We keep your data while your account is active. If you request deletion, we delete your account, your profile, your attendance records and the Bible studies you recorded. As proof that we fulfilled your request, we keep for 12 months a minimal record with an internal identifier that no longer points to you and the dates of the request and its completion, without your name or email; after that it is removed by a daily automatic clean-up, which can take a few days. We may keep other information only where a law requires it.
9. Your rights
Under Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law No. 25,326, you may request access to, rectification, update and deletion of your data. Access is free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless you show a legitimate interest. We answer access requests within 10 calendar days and resolve rectification, update or deletion requests within 5 business days.
To exercise them, write to h_buenaventura@outlook.com from the email address linked to your account.
The Agency for Access to Public Information (Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública), as the supervisory authority of Law 25,326, is entitled to handle complaints from people whose rights are affected by non-compliance with personal-data protection rules.
10. Security
We use encrypted connections and role-based access rules so each person sees only what applies to them. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Minimum age
The app is for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has given us data, write to h_buenaventura@outlook.com and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will publish the new version on this page with its date. If the change is substantial, we will ask you to accept it again in the app.
